According to the Agriculture Census 2015-16, female operational holders operated about 11.72 per cent of the total operated area, as the Ministry of Agriculture told Parliament in December 2021. Operated area measures who manages a holding — not who owns the land or who works on it — so the figure does not capture women's farm labour. Evidence confidence: High for 2015-16.
